Soy Filipino, estupido!

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

It was an early start to the day with Crystal waking me up coz I was too lazy to set my alarm and knew that her and Ashley’s movements would wake me up. We caught a taxi to ITTO and I went and took a photo of the sandwich ladies coz it was probably the last time I was gonna see them. They thought I was silly and just laughed at me :)

Then I jumped on the bus and suddenly felt like a sandwich. I asked Crystal how to say “really toasted” and jumped off to order. And for the first time EVER I ordered all on my own and got EXACTLY what I wanted! Here is what I said (DON’T laugh…I never learnt Spanish and don’t even own a Spanish-English dictionary): “hola…ah…sandwich…desayuno…ah…pierna…con queso…solo…ah…bien tostado…gracias”
It was muy delicious! Even more so coz I ordered it myself!

We eventually got on our way only to have the bus breakdown half way there. So we were stuck for about two hours while we waited for another bus to pick us up. Good thing that they driver heard the sound of the bolt that holds the engine in dropping (the apparent story) coz he managed to stop at a place where there were seats and food and drinks and shade rather than in the middle of Deliverance country.

We watched Fermín climb a tree. That boy is so half monkey it’s scary! Then I dragged my laptop out and we watched part of Borat.

We finally arrived in Puerto Vallarti (as Susan refers to it) and checked into the hotel. It was kinda scary gross but it was free and we weren’t exactly there to sit in a room all day!

We went and got a few drinks by the beach which was cool. The only problem with the beach (aside from the fact that I don’t like water and am not very fond of sand either) was all the people selling everything. One guy came up and instantly insulted Fermín by saying, “Ni hao, ni hao”…when we advised that he wasn’t Chinese he said, “Fine, Japanese then…” to which Fermín replied, “Soy Filipino, estupido!”
I cannot tell you how much we peed our pants laughing at that!!

We watched the sunset which was cool coz it goes down really quickly.

It was an early start to the day so we decided to have an early night and finish watching Borat instead of going out…Crystal is now hooked…I love it!!

Soy pollo!

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Well, today was our last day of class. We did a whole lot of icebreakers in class and took way too many photos! I went and ordered a sandwich from nextdoor and almost got it right…I just didn’t know the word “pierna” so I asked for “puerco” which they translated to “jamón” to which I said “no no…uh…” and they knew what I wanted and all was good!

Then some last minute packing up of the last month and we were off to our graduation dinner. Victor didn’t end up showing up but it’s understandable. Who wouldn’t want to escape for their holiday! So it’s Puerto Vallarta tomorrow!!

Mmmm…fish tacos!!!

"I want to have babies with the guy at the belt shop."

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

“I want to have the corn guy’s babies.”

Yesterday I had my last class! Charlie Ortega gave me a 10. Yay for me! I also had to teach everyone that you don’t say “2 bottle of beers”…hehehe.

Last night we went on a bus tour of Guadalajara. It was pretty cool. We almost lost Rogelio when he couldn’t find his camera case on the bus!

Back home, me, Crystal and Ashley studied for our grammar test and learnt bits of Italian. Oh! Tu sei bello! Crystal even invented a new language…Spitalian: “Tu sei mucho bello!”

As silly as it was I’m glad we randomly quizzed each other coz it actually helped me with my test!!

Today we had another ITTO Bawl Fest 2007! Our icebreaker was to hand around a flower and say something nice to the person we were handing it to. That’s just asking for tears!! Me being me did a silly one and gave two flowers; one to Crystal and one to Rogelio. The reasons I gave were: “Crystal, tu sei bella! Rogelio, tu sei bello! Ti voglio bene. Which means the same as ti quiero muuuuuuuuucho!”

And I finally made it to Doping today (affectionately referred to as the cow shop). And I bought 6 t-shirts! Only three were for me :)

So, exactly what cup-size IS Fermín's head?

So at one point (I can’t remember when) we were walking along and some guys call out from the road, “Hey! Jackie Chan!” referring to Fermín…he just played along and said hey right back.
