trust me

Now why would my texts to Jarrad be failing?

Trust me to go for a wander and find an emo store in Prague! Bought a weird t-shirt that says, “bad boy play to bathe”?! Also picked up a cool green top and a green hat with matching gloves. This shopping habit had got to slow down eventually! Maybe once I stop travelling to Europe…

I don't speak Czech

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Maybe I should have splashed out and got a phrasebook that tells you how to say “I don’t speak Czech.” I guess it’s kind of implied when you respond in English though.

It cost me a grand total of 20Kč for my 90 minute bus/metro/tram ticket which gets me within 10 minutes of my hostel. That’s about 58p or 1.53NZD. Slightly better than the £2 tube ride and £7 esaybus to Stansted…but it’s all just apples and oranges.

Did I forget the minus degree weather I am enjoying (while it’s still sunny!)? If only I remembered my gloves…

blasé

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

It was over two years ago that I planned this new year’s. Only I was meant to be living in Prague, NOT London. I think it was actually originally meant to be last new year’s but I amended the date slightly…
It almost didn’t happen then I got a Gmail blonk from Jo while I was in Roma asking if it was still a goer… okay then!

Even so, as I sit here waiting for my gate to come up I am still as blasé as I am with any other trip. I always had suspicions that I was a drifter and this past year confirms it! I kind of like it that way.

Huh? Out of curiosity I visited this site and correct me if I’m wrong but those people do not look like goths to me…

What can I say?

I did Glühwein, Christmas markets, bratwurst and minus 4 degree weather from 20 December until Christmas Eve. Me and Conny went out and shopped (a lot) and had a general great time.

Back to London and up to Cambridge/March/Ely for more Christmas celebrations. I think this is the last time I am ever going to offer to have the kids wake me up to give their parents a rest. 6:30 is not my favourite time of morning!

Boxing Day was a trip to IKEA (yay) and then the bus back to London, if they weren’t completely booked out!! So then it was a quick stop off at Luton and then back to London! Met up with Ed and his family for Boxing Day dinner and had the bejesus scared out of me by two pheasants hanging in the doorway…ick! I SO don’t do dead hanging birds (or any feathered/furry/ugly animal).

And after having the delight of shopping around London in the middle of Christmas sales I have added to my Christmas traditions (the first being buying new clothes instead of doing laundry) by only shopping in Europe at this time of year!

By My Chemical Romance…give it a listen…I’m hooked.

hangovers and dim sims

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I got a call from Ed at 10:30am on Saturday. Apparently elegant balls are the place to be this time of year so taking pity on him I invited him over for chicken jalfrezi and movies – the perfect hangover cure (from the school of thought: “whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you want to die). Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason was a must for a lazy Saturday morning viewing followed by Love Actually and you’ve got quite a girly day!

I myself spent the morning dying my hair. That’s right, it’s black. For the first time since 2000! I’m still getting used to it and I’m sure Moggy will get a hell of a fright when she gets back!
Speaking of which, I hear that Saima and Moggy are sporting new dos in Bali. They may be orange but I’m sure they’re beautiful

Saturday evening was CurryOke night with Ed’s hockey team and Sunday was dim sim day! I have not made dim sims in over two years!!! I’m a little out of practise and need to find some decent dim sim pastries (wonton pastries just don’t cut it). A little work on my mixture recipe – next time I’ll add a little salt and maybe go for the commercialised chopped prawns in there too. All in all they weren’t too bad and better than the MSG packed ones you get in every restaurant and frozen package!

If I would dare I would have another shot at the baus…but who am I kidding?!

Chilli and chips for £3.20 = YUM!

Seriously, this place has sausages and chips and chilli and eggs and baked potatoes and all sorts of yummy goodness.

The worst part: it’s right across from work.

5 GO-OLD RINGS!!!

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

That’s right. Last night was the Comms department’s Christmas dinner and there was much cheer to be had and wine to be drunk. We had song battles with girls facing off against boys, quizzes, comparing of cellphones, drunken singing in general (Christmas themed, of course) and back home before the tubes shut.

Now was it “nine wadies lating” or “six ladies laying”???

it's a small small world (after all)

I came across a blog a month and a half ago (on 26 October) and bookmarked it in del.icio.us. I came across it again today and updated the tags in del.icio.us. I read through the site (because the author is a someone living in Wellington) and decided to click through to the about page. I read that (and thought I recognised the name of the place where this person worked) and also started refreshing the page to see the rotating header image. Then it all clicked. I’d met her before through a friend who used to work at the same company.

I always find it interesting that there are people out in the world that may be talking about me when I don’t even know who they are. This actually happened about a week ago. Ed was talking to me about lip piercings and I said that I once met a girl with two and she wore studs (as opposed to hoops). I was referring to this person whose blog I’d found.

So me being me I emailed her and said hi, I think I’ve met you before, okay, bye.
I didn’t use those exact words but how else could I not sound like a stalker? It’s just so strange that I would find someone I had met once, actually recognise them AND have spoken about them in the not so distant past.

My mind boggles.
