I missed my blogging birthday two years in a row!
Two years on the blog and some signs of waning have shown.
We’ll see if we can make this year a good blogging year. Try and keep up with all the events that go on and thoughts that stream through my brain.
With the onslaught of Twitter in my life blogging has taken a back seat. But sometimes 140 characters just isn’t enough.

Well 2008, what did I achieve? I started the year with a bang in Prague. I was a Digital Media Coordinator living in Kingsbury and ended as a Web Producer living in Clapham. In between I renewed the same contract twice, went to France, went to Germany, went back home, snowboarded, went to Vegas, came back, looked for work, started work and ended the year with a tub of punch in Henley.

This whole notion of a credit crunch has been looming over us for longer than I care to imagine. People have been jumping aboard the bandwagon and cutting their spending in the name of credit crunch.
What irks me is that for years I have been on the hunt for good deals, keeping my spending low, brown bagging my work lunches ad infinitum and I’ve labelled myself as being cheap. Now nations are following suit and calling it “reacting to the credit crunch”. Don’t use the credit crunch as an excuse for being a cheap-o. It’s just the way you are, accept it.

It’s been a great two year ride but flamedot.net is moving to http://flamedot.wordpress.com/.
Seeing as I was only keeping this as a blog it doesn’t make sense to pay for hosting anymore. So onto the free world of wordpress.com where you will hopefully find me updating this blog more often.
Ciao ciao.

I’m back to reading again. After discovering the charity shops along Clapham High Street on my hunt for pirate gear I managed to pick up nine books for my ever growing collection. In amongst this lot was The Last Juror by John Grisham. It has been years since I last read a John Grisham book. I prefer the lawyer-based ones to the others though.
For me, John Grisham is mind candy. So easy to read, doesn’t require much brain power and yet you still feel the satisfaction of having finished a book.

It’s that time of year again and once again I’m not much of a resolution maker. Last year’s didn’t go quite according to plan. Let’s review, shall we?
launch my website – that I have been planning since 2004 So it didn’t happen. Call it lack of direction.
get back into the gym junkie mode I loved oh-so much but have drifted from since September 2006 *shock horror* This didn’t really happen either. I did have a brief spurt of energy with a Pilates DVD but cancelling my membership and going back to NZ threw a spanner in the works… ahem.
- post photos to this blog more regularly – bad me Woo! Completed this one. Thanks to Ivan actually. Probably just a throwaway comment in a presentation about work but it got my butt into gear and I bought a Pro Flickr account and have yet to look back!
learn Spanish – I shall battle through trying not to learn the Spain version and try to keep to a more Mexican style but it’s gonna be a toughie being on this side of the world This one didn’t happen either. Let me put it forward in 2009′s resolutions.
learn sign language – my main hang up with this one has been whether to learn the American version because so many tutorials are available on YouTube, the British version because it’s more similar to the Kiwi version but probably more widely used or the Kiwi version to stay true to my roots… yes I’m just procrastinating, maybe I’ll put this one on the backburner… Procrastination rears its ugly head. So shoot me.
go to a music festival – any one will do Thanks to the fact that I had to go back to NZ this one got put on the backburner until 2009. Not wanting to take time off so close to finishing work meant that my summer was a quiet one.
plan for my next big snowboarding adventure – and possibly finally learn how to do some tricks before I get too old I’m always doing this so not sure why I made it a resoultion…
I put it all down to procrastination, travelling and laziness. But it was a hell of a year anyway so I’m more than happy to live with that!
Now for this year:
- photos: take a photo a day (the whole 365 days tag on Flickr idea) and take a portrait of me on the first day of every month starting… now. And generally start taking more high quality pics. Or start Photoshopping more low quality pics
- ski trip: already booked for 9 January to Flumserberg… woo!
- Rubix Cube competition: missed this one two years running, 2009 is going to be the year!
- Air Guitar competition: missed this one two years running too! 2009 is going to be the year!
- La Tomatina: missed this one two years running… are we starting to see a pattern?
- music festival: this year has more thought put into it. I’m thinking Reading if I can get tickets. Or some obscure European festival. I’ll try and keep my distance from Glastonbury for as long as possible.
- concerts: see at least one concert this year. Fingers-crossed for Nek and last minute Killers tickets!
- learn Spanish: when will this resolution die already?! But I’ve already started the planning on this one. Stay tuned.
