the waiting

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

I must say I do like St Pancras. With WH Smith, Foyles, M&S, Accessorize, Paperchase… the list goes on, I had plenty of ways to kill the two hours til I was due to depart.

Once I exhausted those stores I pulled up a very cold pew and read my book for this trip: Paperback Raita.

When it was about time to go through the checks I wandered over to the forex place to see exactly how good a deal I got on my euros. €0.9605 to £1… eeshk! Glad I got mine ahead of time with Thomas Exchange: €1.06 to £1!

the tickets

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

The day started with a leisurely 7am wake up call. Due to a debacle with my bank cards I decided to go to St Pancras 2 hours before departure in case I had to have some stern words with a supervisor to get my tickets.

To my surprise I went to the ticket machine and (once I figured out where to put my card) got my tickets for today with no problem. Am even more grateful that my booking reference was so easy to remember (SACPAX) so no fumbling with printouts,

Not wanting to tempt fate I also printed my tickets that I had booked for Rock Werchter in July.

the March review

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Time for my March review of my new year’s resolutions.

  • photos: Photoshopping has been going well and my collection of half decent photos is slowly growing. Snow day was a great opp to do some more cool stuff too. Nothing outstanding but it’ll do for now.
  • Rubix Cube comp/air guitar comp/La Tomatina: have booked flights for La Tomatina now I just have to book the tour!
  • music festival: Dance Island fell through coz I double-booked Rock Werchter for the same weekend. Oh yeah!!!
  • concerts: I missed out on the Killers tickets but will be seeing them at Rock Werchter anyway. Nek has been booked for 18 April in Brescia. Italy, here I come!
  • learn Spanish: I met a Spanish person last week. Does that count?
  • free range chicken and eggs: I think I broke protocol and bought some random chicken. Still going well on the egg front though!
  • grow something: I bought a half dead basil plant and killed it.
  • books: I finished off a John Grisham book and started another one. The Fountainhead is next!

And of course the underlying goal that I didn’t write down: the gym. As of today I have a three month membership! Bring on March!!!
