Simple Plan in Vancouver

Sunday, February 12th, 2012

I am back home from the Simple Plan concert at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. It was fricken freezing outside and I showed up two hours before doors opened to make sure I got a good spot up the front.

the queue waiting to get in

As soon as I got in me and a swarm of girls ran. They ran for the floor, I ran to the toilet for my last toilet stop for the night. I’m so getting old. But I still got a spot about five people from the front.

There were three opening acts: These Kids Wear Crowns, All Time Low and Marianas Trench. Just before the concert Whitney Houston’s death was announced. These Kids Wear Crowns opened with “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. Nice. Alex from All Time Low wore a cool shirt that I am now going to buy that had “CANCER IS A DICK” written on it.

I have never been to a concert where people threw their underwear onstage. And there was a LOT being thrown! Jack from All Time Low hung them off his mic stand and guitar.

Marianas Trench opened with Josh popping up out of a Jack-in-the-box.

And when we all reached our hands out to him he made an “oh I can’t reach you” face then a “fuck it, I’ll come into the audience” face. I’d never heard their songs before but I’m all for jumping on the bandwagon so I reached forward with the rest of the girls and pawed at his pink jacket and chest.

Simple Plan

Simple Plan were amazing as usual. I got stuck behind the only tree in the crowd so found it hard to see the whole time. I managed though :) Pierre didn’t come down and touch people again but I’ll survive. Instead I spent the night making eye contact with any band member I could while singing to them. Hahaha. They even kicked beach balls into the crowd for “Summer Paradise” and I scrounged up some confetti after it was all over.

They didn’t sing nearly enough songs… I wouldn’t be happy unless they sang every song they ever wrote though.

It was the first concert that I’ve been to of theirs on the floor. My first was seated (boo) and the other two were festivals where everyone was going crazy. People were quite subdued here by time Simple Plan actually came out. It definitely made it easier to breathe.

I do have criticism for the security people pulling people out of the crowd though. They were dragging people out face down when they should’ve been doing it face up. They could barely get the people out. They need to take a leaf out of Europe’s book!

boring

At my very core I am actually quite boring. Since Rhys and Sharyn left I have been holed up at home catching up on tv shows from the past year, updating my blog, organising my photos, searching the interwebs for random stuff… oh, and job hunting. But boy do I love it! At least I’ve stopped heading to bed at 4am. And tomorrow is the Simple Plan concert. I finally get to see them in proper concert again. Not just at a stinky festival.

StickyGram

So I’ve been feeling super creative lately. As always it’s been digitally creative. I’ve downloaded a lot of fonts and Photoshop actions and have just spent a couple of hours making pics to turn into StickyGrams. Hopefully Kat doesn’t read this because they’re for her but she doesn’t know that they’re coming…
