grabone goodies

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Today I bought three vouchers: 1 $35 voucher for The Hop Garden and 2 $19 vouchers (2 small cheesecakes) for Yummy Mummy’s Cheesecakes. Thanks to a recent GrabOne promo I managed to only pay $5 for each voucher, woo!

I’ve wanted to try a Yummy Mummy’s Cheesecake cheesecake since I saw one of their shops in Woodville back in 2008. I can’t wait to get to Wellington – only 2 more sleeps.

and now we wait…

I think I have my itinerary sorted for my return to London. Now all I need to do is wait for a sale to come on for my dates. Come on!!

In other news Tom and I are going to the Hurricanes v Crusaders game at the Stadium on 26 February… woo! Tickets were only $25 each with a whopping $8 processing charge.

I’ve also been playing around with more Photoshop brushes. Hopefully I’ll be sending out some cute postcards to some lucky recipients in the very near future.

How to get from Khaosan Road to the MBK shopping centre

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

There are a number of ways to get there but this is how I did it today.

Walk east to the end of Khaosan Road and turn right onto Thanon Tanao. Walk down until you get to a set if traffic lights and turn left onto Thanon Ratchadamnoen Klang. Walk down the street until you see the 7-Eleven. The bus stop should be outside.

Flag down the red number 15 bus by holding your arm out with you palm facing down. The bus was stuck in traffic so I walked down to it to board but others waited until it got to the stop.

Take your seat on the bus and a person with a long metal tube will come and take the fare off you. The fare is a flat 7 baht and they do give change.

With traffic the trip took around 20 minutes. Just before you get to the MBK shopping centre you will pass a large Tesco/Lotus supermarket on your left and the National Stadium on your right. The stop is under the Skytrain station. Push one of the red buttons on the bus to get let off.

Use the overbridgr walkway to cross the road and get into the shopping centre on the third floor. Then shop shop shop!

it’s the final countdown

I am well and truly in the run up to leaving forever… <whisper>forever</whisper>.

I left my job at the end of July the day before heading off to the States for Kat and Jeff’s wonderful wedding. Since I’ve been back I’ve had three days off work. Who said freelancing was easy?

I’m now in the phase where it’s minimal groceries and eating everything we own. I’m just hoping our meals won’t end up consisting of rice noodles, paprika and mayo.

It’s also the phase where I’ve decided to ship everything back to New Zealand. As Tom says, the place will never have looked so tidy!

A bonus of clearing out the room is that my inflatable man finally has a new home. Namely, Vaughan’s room. Although that kind of backfired as he dressed it up in Jez’s naked suit and beanie and left it in the living room to scare the bejesus outta whoever happened to walk in. Now we’re taking it in turns to leave it in unsuspecting places: the couch, the hallway, the toilet, Jez’s bed when he brings a girl home…

feeling like a child

Friday, September 10th, 2010

One thing I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy is getting up at stupid o’clock to catch a bus to get to the airport bus to get my stupidly early flight from Stansted.

Before last week’s flight I decided to go out for drinks and stay up all night. This week I’ve opted for having an afternoon nap and going to bed (although failing to sleep) at 10pm.

Being forced to go to sleep is like being a child again.

learning to share

A couple of weeks ago I set up a joint bank account. Me! With a joint bank account. Who woulda thunk it.

And if that weren’t enough I have delved deep and set up a JOINT blog. Now that takes real commitment.
